Carnelian is the stone for starting the thing rather than planning it. Warm, motivating, and one of the oldest worked stones there is.
The story
Egyptian craftsmen set carnelian into amulets and burial jewellery, and Roman signet rings were cut from it because hot wax will not stick to it. Its warm orange comes from iron in the chalcedony.

Brazil, India, Uruguay and Madagascar.

Caring for your piece
Keep it away from perfume, hairspray and cleaning products, and put it on last when you are getting ready. Store each piece separately so harder stones cannot scratch softer ones.
Clean it with a soft dry cloth. Take jewellery off before swimming, showering or sleeping, and natural stones will hold their colour and their polish for years.
