The name comes from the Latin "fluere", to flow, after its historic use by metalworkers as a smelting flux. Crystal lore later renamed it the genius stone for the mental clarity it brings.

China and Mexico, with fine specimens from Brazil.

Caring for your piece
Keep it away from perfume, hairspray and cleaning products, and put it on last when you are getting ready. Store each piece separately so harder stones cannot scratch softer ones.
Clean it with a soft dry cloth. Take jewellery off before swimming, showering or sleeping, and natural stones will hold their colour and their polish for years.
